Script bidding (PRE)
Script breakdown
Upload a screenplay and let Slate propose the VFX work scene by scene.
Quick start
- Create a PRE bid pack and open Script.
- Upload the screenplay PDF.
- Run the breakdown — Slate reads each scene and proposes work types with shot counts.
- Review scene by scene; the rail highlights the scene you're reading.
- Push the accepted work to the Shot List, then bid the tiers.
Details
What the breakdown produces
For each scene the model proposes: a short description of the visual effects work, one or more work types, and an estimated shot count per tier. Nothing is applied to your bid until you accept it.
Reviewing
Scroll the script and the rail tracks the active page and scene. You can:
- Accept, edit, or drop any proposed block.
- Search the script by location and drop or accept whole groups of scenes at once.
- Leave supervisor notes on a correction — Slate stores them as breakdown rules and applies the same judgement on later passes.
Where the numbers come from
Shot counts are the model's estimate, grounded on comparable scenes and on any corrections you've made before. Days come from you — from the tier days on each work type. The AI never invents a rate or a day count you haven't set.
Cost
A breakdown is one of the larger AI operations in Slate. Check Settings → AI usage before running it on a feature-length script.
